Understanding the Role of the First Aider: An overview of the responsibilities of a first aider, including understanding the legal framework and the importance of consent.

Assessing an Incident: Training on how to assess an emergency situation safely, ensuring the safety of the first aider, the casualty, and others, and determining the appropriate response.

Managing an Unresponsive Casualty: Techniques for managing an unresponsive casualty who is breathing and not breathing, including the recovery position and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).

Dealing with Common Injuries and Illnesses: Practical skills for dealing with a range of common workplace injuries and illnesses, such as cuts, burns, fractures, seizures, and choking.

Using First Aid Equipment: Instruction on how to use first aid equipment that may be available in the workplace, such as first aid kits and Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs).

Recording and Reporting: Guidance on how to record incidents and actions taken during first aid situations and understanding the importance of reporting in line with workplace policies.
The course is interactive, combining theoretical knowledge with practical sessions to ensure that participants are able to apply their learning effectively in real-life scenarios. Assessment is typically conducted through both practical demonstrations and a written test to ensure understanding and competence.
Upon successful completion, participants receive the TQUK Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work, which is valid for a period (often three years) before a refresher course is needed. This certification is widely recognized and meets the standards set for emergency first aid in the workplace, making it suitable for employees in various industries who may be designated as first aiders.
